How to Duplicate a Portfolio

TL;DR

Duplicate an existing portfolio to reuse its structure and listings for a new client—without carrying over old notes, chats, or documents. This is the fastest way to spin up a new, clean portfolio for a buyer with similar needs.

When to use this

Use portfolio duplication when:

  • You’re working with buyers who have similar profiles or search criteria
  • You want to save time instead of creating a portfolio from scratch
  • You’re restarting a search with a new client but a proven structure

Think of this as cloning the framework, not the history.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Go to the Portfolio Dashboard.
  2. Locate the portfolio you want to duplicate.
  3. Click the three-dot menu on the portfolio card.
  4. Select Duplicate.
  5. In the modal that opens, enter the new portfolio details (name, client info, etc.).
  6. Confirm to create the duplicated portfolio.

What gets copied vs. reset

Copied:

  • Portfolio structure
  • Listings (as imported properties)

Reset (clean slate):

  • Property descriptions
  • Uploaded documents
  • Private notes
  • Chat history
  • Any buyer-specific edits

This ensures the new portfolio behaves as if the listings were just imported—no data leakage, no confusion.

Common issues & tips

  • Don’t duplicate for radically different buyers → You’ll spend more time cleaning than saving.
  • Rename immediately → Avoid mixing up active portfolios with similar names.
  • Review buyer description first → Update it before sharing with the client.
  • Performance note: Duplicating is faster than importing listings one by one, especially for large portfolios.
